The metal keeps moving
Parallel resonators ring near the note's 1×, 2× and 3× frequencies. Each has its own damping, so the tone changes as it fades.
Slightly shifted partner modes create slow beating.A little room around it
Some notes gently wake nearby resonances. A short generated room response adds air after the metal's own ring.

Variation with memory
The generator remembers recent notes and develops short motives. It varies density, touch and breathing across a phrase, then chooses the next note within the instrument's note layout.
This is a lightweight modal approximation, not a recording or a full simulation of a steel shell. Real handpans have more complex interactions than the model can capture.
